Closure:   original glass lid (chips on the top knobs) and a replica wire clamp

Appearance:  shiny glass

Condition:  has a fissure on the shoulder as shown

Embossing: light to medium

Base: unmarked 

Age: c1870

Availability:  an extremely rare early jar, only a few examples are known
