Closure: heavy applied ring collar mouth for a cork stopper
Appearance: Shiny glass with a light whittled effect. An unearthed jar that was only lightly pro-cleaned to restore it's luster, with some remains of ground wear still present.
Condition: no damage, has a manufacturer's pot stone with tiny legs as shown, on the lower right side
Embossing: medium to strong
Base: a very large bare iron pontil scar
Age: 1850-1860
Availability: Extremely rare. This jar was unearthed in Cincinnati just this spring, becoming only the second example known to exist. An important artifact from the earliest era of Louisville glass manufacturing.
