A medium blackish cobalt blue quart made in the Pittsburgh Glass Manufacturing District in the 1850's era. Displays an extra heavy applied ring collar mouth and a pushed-in red iron pontil scarred base. Comes with a nice Bodine cast iron stopple of the period. Sparkling glass displaying a nice whittled effect. Has a minor thin flake on the top edge of the mouth. There is a shallow manufacturer's cooling fissure in the neck just below the ring collar. Hard to find and seen only on very close inspection. A fantastic colored jar.
