An original orange-amber colored half gallon mason jar embossed "MASONS (Hero Cross) PATENT NOV 30TH 1858". Medium embossing with sparkling glass and no damage or stains. The ground rim has the usual minor edge flaking. On the base is embossed mold number "479" with the Hero date circle.
