DESCRIPTION

Size:  HALF GALLON

Color:  AQUAMARINE

Closure:  extremely rare original wide mouth unlined zinc cap with two vertical prongs, in untouched original condition with no holes or splits

Appearance: shiny glass

Condition:  the mouth has some chipping and fisheye defects, and there is a manufacturer's surface fissure in the corner of the heel as shown

Embossing:  strong

Base: perfectly flat base with no markings

Age:  c1857-1858, this is considered to be the earliest jar in the Masons Patent series

Availability:  extremely rare, and especially in retaining the original wide mouth lid
