A large early free-blown utility jar in a strong olive green color. Beautifully crude glass character and is without damage. There is a light trace of content deposit inside the base. Sheared and fire polished mouth and a jagged open pontil scarred base (one manufacturer's pontil bruise). Good heavy base wear, indicative of it's age. This vessel design was meant to be closed by a cheese cloth which was tied down by a string. Measures roughly 11-1/4 inches tall and 5 inches in base diameter.
This item is from the Philip Robinson Museum collection.
