Closure:  Fine original zinc cap with original unmarked milk glass liner. The cap tightens perfectly and has no holes or splits. It is rare to find this jar with any lid at all, let alone with one in such good shape.

Appearance: sparkling glass

Condition:  no damage including an excellent ground lip with very little flaking

Embossing:  strong, and superimposed over an erased "THE PEARL" which is still easily readable

Base: unmarked 

Age:  1870's
