An early aqua odd-closured quart embossed: "HILTONS PAT MAR 10TH 1868". Beautifully crude glass character, crisp embossing, and no stains or significant damage. The mouth of the jar has edge flaking, and the glass lid has edge flaking. There is a small open bubble inside the back of the jar. Correct original glass lid with dual sloping ramps, and a correct replica wire clamp (note that the flat sheet iron "repro" clamps placed on these jars in the past are fantasy closures which do not emulate the original clamp, most likely a simple wire clip). A rarely seen early jar and a fine example. Base: "13".
