An aqua quart embossed on the front with an elaborate pictorial of a woman in a pleated dress, holding up a jar in one hand and with the other hand, pointing to the logo emblazoned above her head, which reads: "THE LADIES FAVORITE". On the reverse side of the jar is embossed: "Wm L HALLER CARLISLE Pa" in a fancy block lettering style. Smooth base and a heavy applied ring collar mouth. Correct rare 2-inch cast iron Willoughby stopple is the finest possible example. The stopple has never been cleaned in any way, yet is in finely preserved condition, even retaining the original white rubber sealing gasket. The bottom metal covering is in rarely-good condition with very little rusting. The jar is in beautiful condition throughout, with no damage or stains. If you have been waiting for a choice example of this jar, you may want to give this one some serious consideration. One of the most appealing of early-period fruit jars.
