An aqua squatty pint sized jar with a slightly tapering shape. Embossed on the base: "CAP PATENTED AUG 15, 1876". Original sheet iron cap with 4 lugs to thread onto the lugged neck of the jar. The inside of the cap still retains traces of the original tin plating. Ground mouth with some flaking off the sides of the mouth. The jar is in good shape with the exception of a ding in the heel, that is very hard to spot. Only visible when the jar is held at just the right angle. A rare old pint, and only the second example we've ever seen for sale.
This item is from the Philip Robinson museum collection.
