Appearance: sparkling glass
Condition: excellent including a rare perfect lip with not so much as a nick, which is rare to find
Embossing: Strong embossed. The mold reveals an interesting history with a series of peened-out lettering versions visible in the form of mold reworkings on the reverse side. The original version of the mold was used to produce the "CUTTING & CO (in an arch) SAN FRANCISCO" jar. Later the mold was reworked on the same side to make the "SAN FRANCISCO GLASS WORKS" jar. And finally, all this lettering was removed, and the "M SELLER & CO PORTLAND O" lettering was cut into the reverse side of the mold.

Age: c1883
Availability: a rare early western jar, and the finest possible example
