A quart embossed: "MASONS PATENT NOV 30TH 1858" in a good bright and strong Citron color. Note that the usual apostrophe in "MASONS" is missing. The glass displays some great character with whittling and the embossing is crisp. No damage or stains. The ground mouth displays the usual edge flaking. Base a large: "21". Comes with an unusual early lettered zinc cap that is impressed on top: "TRADE MARK THE MASON JAR CAP OF 1858 LINED ALWAYS SAFE". A great looking colored 1858 jar.
