Closure: heavy applied ring collar mouth for a cork stopper to be sealed with wax

Base: an extra-large sized red iron pontil scar
Age: 1850's
Availability: Scarce and a beautiful example of this primitive early jar. This jar has been in the collection of the consignor since she purchased it at an Ohio auction in 1974.
