DESCRIPTION
Size: HALF GALLON
Color: AQUAMARINE
Closure: original glass lid and original iron clamp
Appearance: sparkling glass with bubbles and crudity throughout
Condition: like new, never-used condition with some edge flaking on the mouth
Embossing: strong
Base: "PATd MAR 10th 1868" encircling a "2"
Age: c1870
Availability: Scarce early jar and a beautiful example. The jar comes from a cache of a dozen jars that were found without lids or clamps, and believed to have never been used, as there is no base wear nor signs of usage of any kind. We located an original lid and original clamp for this one, which was the crudest of the bunch.
