Size: HALF GALLON
Color: YELLOW GREEN
Closure: zinc cap
Appearance: shiny glass with a trace of content haze
Condition: no damage, has some light usage wear
Embossing: strong
Base: "7" and 4 raised dots
Age: c1910
Availability: Rare or singular. Similar to Redbook #241, except this unlisted variation does not have a period after MASON and the 3rd L loop is a little shorter, like the loop on the Root Mason jar. The Root Glass Company manufactured their iconic ROOT MASON fruit jars at their plant off the south side of Maple Avenue near 17th Street in Terre Haute, Indiana from 1905-1909. The plant was purchased by Ball Bros in 1909, after which Ball reworked the existing fruit jar molds to display their own logo, and continued making jars. This jar is similar to the rare listing #241, but more rare and unlisted.
