Closure: Rare original IRON screw cap with two vertical lugs, and impressed in a small circle of lettering in the center of the cap "CHACES PAT OCT 27 1857" encircling a "2". This is one of the very earliest original Crowleytown caps and is in fine shape with not a single pinhole or split anywhere, with very little rust, and has never been cleaned in any way. The cap is standard size and will fit most standard mouth quart or half gallon Crowleytown Masons.
Appearance: seedy and sparkling glass
Condition: normal roughness and flaking of the ground mouth
Embossing: strong
Base: unmarked
Age: 1860's
Availability: rare, an exceptionally nice jar and cap
