A clear free-blown quart with a pushed-in open pontil scarred base, and a formed mouth with a smooth ground finish. The glass displays a lovely swirled effect from top to bottom. Correct original glass lid with knob handle as shown. The lid has a similar ground finish on the bottom edge, and was made to seal against the mouth of the jar via surface tension, by merely applying water to the surfaces. The lid is embossed: "F & J McKEE PITTSBURGH PA". The edge of the mouth has tiny nicking from the original grinding process. The jar and lid are both in great shape without damage or stains.
From the Philip Robinson Museum Collection.
