Size: approximately 48 oz
Color: AMBER
Closure: original glass lid, original sealing gasket, and original cast iron yoke clamp with thumbscrew
Appearance: sparkling glass
Condition: excellent with no damage, the glass lid has no more than some pin point nicking at the edge
Embossing: strong
Base: "4"
Age: late 1800's
Availability: Rare. All known examples of this jar (around 12 jars) came from a single find, discovered during the clean out of a residence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin back in the late 1960's. The former occupant had been a homeopathic physician, who had presumably special-ordered these in amber from Whitall-Tatum Company for use in his medicinal business in the late 1800's. This one is in nearly attic-mint condition, even including the original sealing gasket.
